Why is New York so overused in movies and television for years and years? Give Chicago a chance to shine?

I've never been to New york, but I've got a lot of respect for it, but the only thing is that for so damn long all you hear about is New York this or LA that, Give another beautiful city a chance like Chicago where I am from. New York is so damn overplayed and overused, and people are getting tired of seeing it in every movie or TV show for the past what 60/70 years?. No disrespect to any New Yorkers who read this, but give the beautiful city of Chicago a chance to shine on its beautiful architecture and culture. We are great city!
