Best friend confusion.?

My best guy friend has always had a huge crush on me. Dare i say it, he may even love me. He cares about me like no one else, and we have the tendency to read eachothers minds to the point its kind of creepy. He's my sweet loser who everyone picks on, and i did have to stop sitting with him a while ago towards the end of the year, because to be honest, he can be annoying. And most of the year that didn't bother me until the end of the year. He seems so unconditional, and perfectly quirky, like my very own Duckie. Can i make myself love him? Something needs to give. Its been 5 years and he hasn't given up on me.
